Now we’re celebrating the 30th anniversary of Michael Jordan’s legendary 1988 All-Star Weekend he weekend in which he won both the Slam Dunk Contest and became the All-Star Game MVP after scoring 40 points in the Chicago Bulls victory on February 7th 1988. At that occasions he was wearing the Air Jordan 3 Black Cement.
Even though ‘His Airnes’ was wearing the white colorway when winning the Dunk Competition, he did win the All Star MVP while wearing the ‘Black Cement’ colorway the next day. The Air Jordan 3 ‘Black Cement’ was one of the 4 original colorways released in 1988 and hasn’t been retro’d since 2001.
Designed by Tinker Hatfield and debuting in 1988, the Air Jordan 3 incorporated the first visible Air-sole unit, along with the introduction of the brand’s famed elephant print. …and by the way it was also the forst shoe to feature the iconic the Jumpman logo.
